Peter O'Brien MGLDA

As an innovative landscape designer with a keen eye for proportion, aesthetics and detailing, Peter O’Brien founded Plan Eden in 1994. An accomplished garden designer and craftsman, his background in construction and carpentry give him a unique understanding of the complexities of garden detailing.

Over the years, he has developed the company into a mature and forward thinking practice, dealing with both private gardens and commercial developments. He sees his design style as being architectural rather than horticultural, with an emphasis on strong, bold lines, using planting to enhance this style and to clothe and soften the design.

Water features strongly in his designs. “I see it as an almost essential element in any garden, providing movement and sound, while drawing on its reflective qualities to bring light to even the most shaded courtyard”. Peter favours architectural plants, and selects those providing maximum impact and seasonal interest. He looks for good form, texture, movement and colour in his planting schemes, but with that essential sense of calmness found in the best of garden design.

Peter is a fully accredited member of the Garden and Landscape Designers Association (GLDA), and as such his work is always carried out to the highest professional standards.
